Description

Black Blur Plain Edge

The Blur Knife from Kershaw and Ken Onion is an excellent flip open knife for use around the campfire or even on the job. Its blade is Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel with a strong Tungsten DLC coating. This is a knife that will stay sharp much longer than other types and after a lot of abuse.

The handle has comfortable easy grip Trac-Tec inserts so you can keep a firm hold on the knife even in wet or slippery conditions. Lightweight at 4.2 ounces the knife is also a decent length at about 7 inches fully opened.

In addition the Blur features the patented SpeedSafe assisted-opening system. An extra aid to ensure your safety while carrying and using the pocket knife. All you need is to press the thumb stud and the spring loaded blade will pop up for easy opening. To further ensure your safety while using the knife, a Locking Liner holds the knife firmly in place when fully opened.

Locking Liner

Locks the blade into position after the blade is deployed. To release the locking liner simply press the spring loaded lock and the blade will easily fold back into the handle.

SpeedSafe from Kershaw Knives revolutionized the knife industry when it was first introduced on the Ken Onion Chive. First off a knife that features SpeedSafe technology is not considered and automatic knife. The correct classification is an “Assisted Opening Knife. There are two variations of SpeedSafe. One being a “Flipper” where the user uses their index finger to deploy the blade, and the other the user uses the thumb stud found on the blade for deployment. Both variations require the user to apply manual pressure to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. This is why a SpeedSafe does not meet the definition of being classified as a switchblade. A SpeedSafe will not deploy with the push of a button or by gravity alone. Once open, the blade locks safely into position until the user releases it. A key advantage of a SpeedSafe knife is that many of the models are ambidextrous, and can be opened just as easy by either a right or left handed person.

Quality and Well Worth the Money December 30, 2013
Reviewer: Robby from Pennsylvania United States
I first discovered the Kershaw brand when one of my friends showed me his whirlwind and immediately loved the SpeedSafe design. I bought this knife after losing my other prized Kershaw and couldn't be happier with my purchase. This knife is very well made and has held an edge very well over the past year. It came sharper than your average razor right out the box and fits nicely in my hand. I was a little skeptical of the flattened profile but it is surprisingly comfortable with the grip inserts. I've had this knife for over a year now and it still opens as fast as it did when I first bought it. I carry it every day and it worked very well when gutting grouse after hunting. The clip secures it nicely to any pocket. Keep the blade sharp and it will work wonders for you. I hope you all enjoy your Blur as much as I enjoy mine!

Black Beauty February 4, 2012

This is a fantastic knife.  The elegant drop-point blade is  partially hollow ground and the cutting edge has a slight recurve with a very nice belly.  The knife fits in my medium-sized hands (wear size 8 gloves) perfectly and securely.  It is great for everyday use (draw cuts, pull cuts, tip cuts, etc.), as a camping/hunting knife (cord cutting, food prep, small game processing, etc.), and for self-defense purposes.  I wouldn't ordinarily give the latter endorsement for a knife without a more generous thumb ramp & finger indent because of the risk of self-injury during stabbing moves but the grip is secure enough for an experienced knife handler to use with no worries.  Overall a pleasure to look upon, a pleasure to a hold, a pleasure to use and a must have for any knife knut.

Review Kershaw Blur May 21, 2010
Reviewer: Richard Rohdenburg from Aklbuquerque, NM United States
Working as armed security officer, I have to have an absolutely reliable back up weapon. I have found the Blur to be impossible not to find a grip on. and its appearance in everyday carry is a deterrent.   Compact enough that no matter what else I may be carrying at night, it is easily identified, and accessed. Its durability stands up to varied weather and temperature conditions. it is the second knife from Kershaw that I have purchased, and would not wear nor use anything else. Thank you.
