1990 - Brawler from Kershaw, Black Polyimide Handle, Plain Tanto Edge Blade

Get great style and great function in a value-priced knife with the new Kershaw Brawler. In addition to amazing looks, the Brawler offers SpeedSafe® assisted opening, easily accessed using the built-in flipper or convenient thumbstud. The blade is a modified tanto style with an extra-thick blade tip for robust piercing capabilities. The blade is DLC coating for non-reflectivity. For strength and reduced weight, the handles are injection-molded, glass-filled nylon. A solid locking liner secures the blade. The Brawler is drilled for quad-carry: tip-up, tip-down, left-handed or right-handed.

Locking Liner
Locks the blade into position after the blade is deployed. To release the locking liner simply press the spring loaded lock and the blade will easily fold back into the handle.

Knife Specifications & Features:

SpeedSafe® is the patented, assisted opening mechanism pioneered by Kershaw that makes it fast and easy to open a knife one-handed. SpeedSafe also makes it possible for Kershaw to ensure that even a large blade can move out of the handle just as smoothly and easily as a smaller one. Plus, many of their assisted folders are ambidextrous—and open with a flipper or a thumbstud on both sides of the blade—so they’re just as easy to use left-handed or right. To open a SpeedSafe knife, the user must apply manual pressure to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. This means that SpeedSafe knives do not meet the definition of a switchblade; they do not deploy with the push of a button or by gravity alone. Once open, the blade locks safely into position until the user releases it.

8CR13MOV Stainless Steel - Many knife enthusiasts will have heard that 8CR13MoV stainless is the equivalent of AUS8A. And it’s true. For everyday use, even a serious knife enthusiast would be hard-pressed to tell the difference between a well-made 8CR13MoV blade and a well-made AUS8A blade. Yet there are slight differences in the steel formula. While most other components are relatively equal, 8CR13MoV has slightly more carbon for hardness and wear resistance and slightly less nickel.

The key to blade performance for both of these steels is manufacturing quality. That’s where Kershaw’s expertise comes in.
