Scrambler Plain Edge

Designed by RJ Martin, the Scrambler’s classy, drop-point blade is hollow-ground so it breezes through slicing tasks, while the flat-ground, large top swedge adds to its good looks. The 8Cr13MoV blade steel provides strength and good edge retention, while the titanium carbo-nitride coating provides additional blade protection and gives the knife a unified look as it the blade flows into the handle.

The front side of the comfortable handle is textured G-10 with a titanium carbo-nitride-coated bolster. The other side is all stainless steel with a sturdy frame lock. The extended bolster provides additional forefinger protection and ensures the knife fits firmly in your hand during use.

SpeedSafe-equipped, the Scrambler opens quickly and easily with the ambidextrous flipper. A reversible pocketclip lets you carry left- or right-handed.

SpeedSafe from Kershaw Knives revolutionized the knife industry when it was first introduced on the Ken Onion Chive. First off a knife that features SpeedSafe technology is not considered and automatic knife. The correct classification is an “Assisted Opening Knife. There are two variations of SpeedSafe. One being a “Flipper” where the user uses their index finger to deploy the blade, and the other the user uses the thumb stud found on the blade for deployment. Both variations require the user to apply manual pressure to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. This is why a SpeedSafe does not meet the definition of being classified as a switchblade. A SpeedSafe will not deploy with the push of a button or by gravity alone. Once open, the blade locks safely into position until the user releases it. A key advantage of a SpeedSafe knife is that many of the models are ambidextrous, and can be opened just as easy by either a right or left handed person.

8CR13MOV Stainless Steel
-The new steel being used today on many knife imports is 8CR13MoV stainless. Some are asking how does it compare to the traditional steel found on many other knives, and is it as good? Well the answer is 8CR13MoV stainless is equivalent to AUS8A stainless steel. And many knife enthusiasts would find it extremely difficult to tell the difference between a knife with AUS8A steel and a well-made knife with 8CR13MoV steel.

The performance of a blade is based on how they are manufactured. This is where the years of manufacturing expertise by Kershaw stands above the rest. Their process controls each and every step of production which brings out the best in the steels high performance characteristics. In short it allows the blade to take and hold an edge, maintain its strength and hardness for many years of use.
