Description

1585BR - Baby Boa from Kershaw and Ken Onion, Black/Red Aluminum Handle, Plain Edge Blade

Looking for something cool to add to your knife collection? Well, the Baby Boa from Kershaw and Ken Onion is just what you are looking for. It’s modeled after the lines and style of the larger Boa from Kershaw but small enough to fit in the pocket. You’ll love the unique style of the red and black handle with its cutaway section to reveal the inner workings of Kershaw’s SpeedSafe assisted opening system.

The torsion bar of the SpeedSafe system is easily glimpsed through the cutaway section of the knife handle. The handle itself is made of 6061-T6 anodized aluminum with a smoked finish. The blade is Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel with a high polish finish. A pocket clip is also included with the knife.

SpeedSafe is meant to make it easier for you to open the knife with one hand. Simply push on the index open spring loaded lock and the blade slides out.

The Knife Features:

SpeedSafe®, the patented, assisted-opening system built into many of Kershaw's best-selling Ken Onion knives. SpeedSafe assists the user to smoothly open the knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or Index- Open system. (Index-Open uses a protruding portion of the blade's finger guard to give the user an alternative to the thumb stud. The user manually pulls back on the protrusion with the index finger to open the blade.)

The heart of the SpeedSafe system is its torsion bar. Closed, the torsion bar helps keep the knife closed, preventing it from being opened by "gravity." In order to open the knife, the user must apply manual pressure to the thumb stud to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its halfmoon track and takes over. The blade opens smoothly and locks into position, ready for use.

Perfect Size August 7, 2009
Reviewer: Linda from mission viejo, CA United States
The size of the Baby Boa is perfect. It can be taken to work in a pocket. The red and black anodize finish on the handle is beautiful. The blade is so polished and clean I thought it was chrome. The torsion bar with a cut out view is a unique design and very impressive. It does an excellent job of cutting fruit and whatever else I need cut. It's a great addition to my other Kershaw knives.

Small Doesn't Matter November 19, 2007
Reviewer: Eric Mueller from Biloxi, MS United States
This is a good example of the fine quality you can expect in a Kershaw. Yes, it is small (fits nicely in a pocket!) but I've found few tasks you can't do it with it. The blade is highly polished and the scales are nicely colored. Fit and finish are outstanding. Opening one-handed is a bit stiff but it's a great knife!

Too small November 19, 2007

its the quality of a kershaw but very impractical, no wider than my two fingers or longer than my pinky when its opened, looks a lot bigger online
