Description

1660CKTST - Leek from Kershaw and Ken Onion, Tungsten DLC Coated Handle, Black Partially Serrated Edge Blade

The Leek Knives by Kershaw and Ken Onion are wildly popular because of their utility and great variety in style. This particular black serrated Leek knife is just one of those many options. You’ll have just as much fun choosing the perfect Leek as you do using it.

Its black surface is courtesy of the tungsten DLC coated handle. Underneath this coating the handle is composed of 410 stainless steel. The blade is Sandvik 13C26 stainless steel, making both strong and rust resistant in the long term. A convenient pocket clip great for taking the knife with you and you’ll love that the handle of the Leek is drilled for tip up and tip down carry in the pocket clip and the clip can be flipped 180 degrees for ambidextrous use.

The knife features a frame lock to lock the Leek blade into position firmly when it is fully opened. You can release the blade to fold it down easily by pressing the spring loaded lock. It also features a Tip Safety Lock so you can be certainly that the blade of your Leek won’t accidentally deploy while in your pocket clip.

Reversible Clip
The Leek handles are drilled for both tip-up and tip-down clip carry. The clip can be rotated 180º .

Frame Lock
Locks the blade into position after the blade is deployed. To release the frame lock simply press the spring loaded lock and the blade will easily fold back into the handle.

Tip Safety Lock
The tip lock available on many of the Ken Onion SpeedSafe models provides added security to assure that the blade will not deploy while clipped into your pocket.

The Knife Features:

SpeedSafe®, the patented, assisted-opening system built into many of Kershaw's best-selling Ken Onion knives. SpeedSafe assists the user to smoothly open the knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or Index- Open system. (Index-Open uses a protruding portion of the blade's finger guard to give the user an alternative to the thumb stud. The user manually pulls back on the protrusion with the index finger to open the blade.)

The heart of the SpeedSafe system is its torsion bar. Closed, the torsion bar helps keep the knife closed, preventing it from being opened by "gravity." In order to open the knife, the user must apply manual pressure to the thumb stud to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its halfmoon track and takes over. The blade opens smoothly and locks into position, ready for use.

Love this knife April 18, 2008
Reviewer: Bob Hergert from Port Orford, OR United States
As soon as I bought one of these at the Oregon knife show, I had to buy another for a friend. I own many well-made knives, including custom folders. I embellish many with scrimshaw, then carry one to display my work. THIS is the one I'll carry now. Lightweight, sturdy, and fun to open (the kid in me can't resist).

Great Small Knife!!!! November 19, 2007
Reviewer: James Bloyer from St. Louis Park, MN United States
I own many quality knives such as Benchmande and Microtech, but this is the knife that I always carry with me!

It is as indespensible as my Victorinox Swiss Army knife. Why? It's small, retains a razor sharp edge, quickly opens with one hand, and is just plain Functional!

I'm buying three more for my friends.

Best use yet of Technical know how November 19, 2007
Reviewer: Michael Kaplan from Atlanta, GA United States
This knife is not only svelte but a joy to carry/use everyday.
The ability to 'rotate' the clip 180 degrees is a very welcome feature since it allows one to carry tip up or down. It may sound like "No Biggie" but it is...and since it only require the drilling at the factory of 2 more holes (for the clip screws) you have to wonder why everyone doesn't do this.
The 'assisted' opening is flawless, easy and has a safety if you wish to lock down the blade, etc.
It has been my experience that one is always in search of: the perfect wallet, belt,AND carry everyday knife. Well I only had to hold it and open/close it several times before I had the distinct feeling that I need look no further for the knife.

Great Knife November 19, 2007
Reviewer: Matthew  from Falls Church, VA United States
I bought this knife about a year ago. It does everything from cutting cheese, opening tough plastic packages, cutting open boxes and much more.  The only down fall is the coating doesn't take much wear and tea to scratch. Overall a great knife.
