The Knife Features:

SpeedSafe®, the patented, assisted-opening system built into many of Kershaw's best-selling Ken Onion knives. SpeedSafe assists the user to smoothly open the knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or Index- Open system. (Index-Open uses a protruding portion of the blade's finger guard to give the user an alternative to the thumb stud. The user manually pulls back on the protrusion with the index finger to open the blade.)

The heart of the SpeedSafe system is its torsion bar. Closed, the torsion bar helps keep the knife closed, preventing it from being opened by "gravity." In order to open the knife, the user must apply manual pressure to the thumb stud to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its halfmoon track and takes over. The blade opens smoothly and locks into position, ready for use.

Wonderful knife April 20, 2009
Reviewer: Debra W from Charlottesville, VA United States
I've had 2 of these, and have a third on the way.  I dearly love them.  I have, unfortunately, lost the previous 2 - left one in a work vehicle, and GEE, it never made it back to me (wonder why?), the 2nd I left in a motel while travelling, and while they PROMISED to send it to me - it never arrived.  Again, I wonder why?  Because they are such great knives, and it is easy to see!  Cannot recommend this knife highly enough.  Only suggestion to you would be to flip the pocket clip - then it comes up ready to open and use, no fumbling to turn it around.

A Work of Art March 12, 2009
Reviewer: Bill from Flower Mound, TX United States
This knife is as much fun to look at as it is to use, an absolute work of art. It disappears when clipped in the pocket but when you need it's there, solid with a great feel. It keeps it's edge so it's a reliable and safe tool.

Superb Everyday Knife February 21, 2009
Reviewer: George from Cocoa, FL United States
I was on the lookout for something I could carry every day and I was able to find it in this little gem.  This knife pops open quickly and snaps into place and really gives you a sense of readiness.  I loved carrying it and using it so much, I  bought the serrated version so I could alternate usage depending on what my plans were for that day.

You have to see this knife in person to believe how handsome it is and how good it feels in your hand and how quickly and impressively it opens.  It is obviously a high quality knife that you will be proud to own and show off.

Great! May 31, 2008
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Biloxi, MS United States
I bought a Leek to replace a Chive that I lost and now I wonder why I didn't have one sooner. The steel is excellent, sharpens easily and holds its' edge. The one-handed opening/closing feature is most valuable for a working tool. Mine has seen hard use over the past year and I'm thinking of buying a second one just to keep in reserve.

one tuff little knife November 19, 2007
Reviewer: N8 from town over there, CA United States
I picked up my leek for $100.06 [about a year ago]and it has been at my side ever since. Some of the best money i ever spent. I thought that the speed safe assisted-opening would wear out quickly or become sluggish. With in a year I have dropped my leek countless times, used the but end or pommel to open boxes and anything else that my sick mined could come up with. never have i ever experienced a a malfunction of the blade speedsafe or handle, plus the safety is a nice tuch. And as a defensive tool, the pommel can be used as a small kubotan. And the blade chops, slashes and penetrates with little effort in a revers grip. All in all the leek has big knife preferments in a compact package.
