You’ll love these little scallion knives from Kershaw and Ken Onion. They are excellent knives that are easy to open and close and very safe. Plus the Scallion is an attractive blue color making it an excellent addition to your collection.

This Scallion blade is made from 420HC stainless steel and the handle is made from 6061-T6 anodized aluminum, making this a strong and durable knife. The knife comes with a pocket clip and is very lightweight at 2.3 ounces, just about as much as 2 1/3 paper clips!

There are several safety features that make the Scallion a good knife to use. The Locking Liner locks the blade into place when fully deployed and is easy to release with the press on a spring loaded lock. The Tip Safety Lock will ensure that the blade remains closed when folded down so there is no accidental opening in your pocket. The SpeedSafe assisted opening system makes for easy ambidextrous opening of the blade.

Locking Liner
Locks the blade into position after the blade is deployed. To release the locking liner simply press the spring loaded lock and the blade will easily fold back into the handle.

Tip Safety Lock
The tip lock available on many of the Ken Onion SpeedSafe models provides added security to assure that the blade will not deploy while clipped into your pocket.

The Knife Features:

SpeedSafe®, the patented, assisted-opening system built into many of Kershaw's best-selling Ken Onion knives. SpeedSafe assists the user to smoothly open the knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or Index- Open system. (Index-Open uses a protruding portion of the blade's finger guard to give the user an alternative to the thumb stud. The user manually pulls back on the protrusion with the index finger to open the blade.)

The heart of the SpeedSafe system is its torsion bar. Closed, the torsion bar helps keep the knife closed, preventing it from being opened by "gravity." In order to open the knife, the user must apply manual pressure to the thumb stud to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its halfmoon track and takes over. The blade opens smoothly and locks into position, ready for use.

i didn't buy mine here, although i wish i had as i paid $50 for it at the tool rental store when i returned a bobcat i had rented(moved and roughly leveled 100 cubic yards of screened topsoil for the backyard, so it was sort of a reward to myself for such a good job and hard work:))..anyway, the knife itself is sweet...the speedsafe opening mechanism is as close to automatic as i've found, smooth and fast...the blue finish i selected is cool, it's scratch resistant, and nobody else i hang around with has one...the blade is shaped to suit many of my needs, and comes razor sharp out of the box..and the main feature that led me to choose this piece is it's size; small enough to carry comfortably yet plenty of strength and just enough size to get most any job done..very happy with the knife and the next time i purchase a kershaw, i will look here first...now, what about that carabiner tool??? christmas is approaching...
