1620GRN - Scallion from Kershaw and Ken Onion, Green Anodized Aluminum Handle, Plain Edge Blade
Your family will love getting a pretty Green Scallion knife from Kershaw and Ken Onion this year or even for the holidays. The Scallion is small, yet practical and is great for guys or gals. Never fear, these knives are also extremely practical and useful at just about any task. The knife blade is made from 420HC stainless steel, so the Scallion is very sharp and durable to use. The green handle is made from 6061-T6 anodized aluminum with a lovely green handle. Overall, the Scallion is very lightweight at only 2.3 ounces, about as much as a couple of paperclips. It also comes with its own pocket clip for convenient carrying. The Scallion is also a very safety conscious knife. The Scallion features the Tip Safety Lock which will keep the blade in place when folded down so there are no accidents. It also features a Locking Liner which locks the blade into place when fully opened and is easy to release with the press on a spring loaded lock. Last but not least, is the SpeedSafe assisted opening system which makes for easy ambidextrous opening of the blade.
SpeedSafeŽ, the patented, assisted-opening system built into many of Kershaw's best-selling Ken Onion knives. SpeedSafe assists the user to smoothly open the knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or Index- Open system. (Index-Open uses a protruding portion of the blade's finger guard to give the user an alternative to the thumb stud. The user manually pulls back on the protrusion with the index finger to open the blade.)
The heart of the SpeedSafe system is its torsion bar. Closed, the torsion bar helps keep the knife closed, preventing it from being opened by "gravity." In order to open the knife, the user must apply manual pressure to the thumb stud to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its halfmoon track and takes over. The blade opens smoothly and locks into position, ready for use.
