1560RMEF - Whirlwind from Kershaw and Ken Onion, RealTree Camo Handle, Partially Plain Edge Blade

This Whirlwind Knife from Kershaw and Ken Onion is an excellent knife for the outdoorsman or woman. Its larger handle is uniquely decorated with RealTree camouflage. Plus it is shaped to fit more easily in the hand and the blade is wider to help with cutting. Designed to be as lightweight as possible without sacrificing usability, this knife comes in at a mere 3.5 ounces in weight.

Whirlwind's blade is made of Sandvik 14C28N stainless-steel making it a good rust resistant blade for the outdoors. The handle is made of molded polyimide for a comfortable and secure grip with the RealTree Hardwoods camouflage design. It comes with a removable stainless steel pocket clip.

The Whirlwind has two excellent safety features. The SpeedSafe assisted opening system makes this knife easy to open one handed, so you can quickly take full advantage of the knife. The Locking Liner locks the knife blade into position when the blade is fully deployed. You can easily release the locking liner by pressing a spring loaded release.

Locks the blade into position after the blade is deployed. To release the locking liner simply press the spring loaded lock and the blade will easily fold back into the handle.

The Knife Features:
SpeedSafeŽ, the patented, assisted-opening system built into many of Kershaw's best-selling Ken Onion knives. SpeedSafe assists the user to smoothly open the knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud.
 
The heart of the SpeedSafe system is its torsion bar. Closed, the torsion bar helps keep the knife closed, preventing it from being opened by "gravity." In order to open the knife, the user must apply manual pressure to the thumb stud to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its halfmoon track and takes over. The blade opens smoothly and locks into position, ready for use.

i've had this knife for almost a year and it is very versatile.  i use it for everything and i've never had to sharpen it.  its is very light but not too light and the handle fits in my hand perfectly.  i recommend this knife to any hunter or outdoorsman.
